TUSCANY

A truly incomparable luxury accommodation is re-born in the heart of Florence, Italy: Opera. A residence like no other, Opera was created within the very walls where music and theater were fused nearly 500 years ago to create a new art form: opera. Remaining true to this spirit of synthesis and to the concept of rebirth that defines this city, this unique residence combines historical pedigree with contemporary design to create an unforgettable experience. Opera is situated within an aristocratic Palazzo, a majestic structure dating from 1420 designed by Brunelleschi, one of the brightest lights of the Florentine Renaissance. Piazza Santa Croce is just steps away as is the river Arno, but it is within the Palazzo itself where history resonates in a way all its own. Opera comprises about 3,444 square feet (320 m2) distributed over its two levels and contains three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms.

LIVING SPACES
Opera’s interior décor is a combination of the finest design and Florentine architectural details. Original 1500 scenic machinery – winches, tracks and rods – remain as they once were, affixed to the splendidly restored ceiling beams with their newly-revealed painted decorations brought forth. Iconic designers furniture by Van der Rohe, Eames, Le Corbusier, next to 17th century sofa and two Medieval terracotta statues, Castiglioni, Flos and Fontanarte light fixtures blend uniquely into a harmonious ensemble quite unlike any other residence.

Mezzanine level: open-plan space containing a clean-edged kitchen, uber-modern dining and lounge areas with vibrant accent colors next to a neutral palette.

The trip was incredible from start to finish. My experience staying at Opera was the best ever and we have taken many vacations. The staff when I booked, on site in Italy, drivers used for transportation, housekeeper, concierge service all of them were in sync and did an excellent job. The property was charming, beautiful and well kept. We enjoyed just resting and did not want to be typical tourist but wanted to feel we were natives of Florence. We did this and had the rest and relaxation we needed.

Florence, a medieval city of timeless artistic beauty is there to be discovered. The beautiful Cathedral of Santa Maria Del Fiore, the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, the Pitti Palace, and Ponte Vecchio are only few of the city’s most famous architectural masterpieces. Check at least one of its museums – we like the Academy of Fine Arts, which houses Michelangelo’s superb David. Stroll the narrow streets of Florence, the cradle of the Reinassance, and marvel at the richness of this real open museum. Enjoy a cappuccino on one of its piazzas, or a colorful gelato to cool off the summer heat. Whatever you do, don’t pinch yourself…you are not dreaming!
